Risk and Issues Management
This method covers identifying, wording, rating, treating, agreeing and closing risks and issues. It sets the standard for a register that drives decisions rather than one that records concerns: cause, event and quantified consequence; a named owner; a current and a target rating; and treatments that name what they change, who does them, and by when.
Purpose
Projects do not fail because nobody listed the risks. They fail because the entries were vague, the owners were nominal, the treatments were unfunded, and nobody re-rated anything after the first workshop. This method sets the standard for identifying, wording, rating, treating, agreeing and closing risks and issues on an Exco engagement, and defines what "managed" actually has to mean before a risk can be reported as managed.
Applies to every Exco engagement. Depth is proportionate to project class: the minimum field set applies to all projects, the full field set applies to any item rated High or Critical.
